Teaching is a beautiful paradox that I fell into quite unwillingly and yet grew to advocate passionately. I’ve had the privilege of learning under the Diploma course of Child Psychology and Early Education (CPEE) from Ngee Ann Polytechnic and complete my Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education with Wheelock College under Singapore Institute of Technology. With the flame ignited by professors in these two institutes, I leapt into the workforce unready for the shift in mindset when it came to teaching children- to teach them well, I had to learn. It was a steep learning curve, yet after quite some years teaching and learning from the children, mentoring others and leading the teachers, I am now a different, and dare I say, bolder educator. There have been a lot of “Ah-ha!” moments since joining Cultivate Central; from seeing how humans are so dependent on soil to realizing that we know so little about it. What better way to be an educator than to use these to create experiences that shall be ingrained in all of us!
